In the context of the Innovation Week Tanzania 2022, the African Union-European Union (AU-EU) Digital for Development (D4D) Hub, on behalf of the EU Delegation in Tanzania, hosted the side event “Navigating through Data Protection and Cyber Security for Digital Innovation: Takeaways from the EU and Tanzania”.
The event provided an insight on the European Union’s practices and standards in the field of data protection, cybersecurity, and how such regulations have impacted the European Digital Market, as well as overview of the plans of the Tanzanian government in these fields.
The event was facilitated by Enabel Tanzania in its role of implementing partner of the AU-EU D4D Hub.
Stepping up EU-Tanzania digital cooperation
The event gathered representatives from Tanzania's Ministry of Information, Communication and Information Technology (MICIT), the European Union Delegation to Tanzania, and different European development agencies to discuss the Europe-Tanzania digital partnership.
“For the European Union, this event marked an important milestone towards a stronger partnership with Tanzania in the digital sector. We hope that it will be the first step in a permanent dialogue where we can exchange and work together in our common ambition to boost the country’s digital economy to support Tanzanian citizen’s well-being,” said H.E. Manfredo Fanti, EU Ambassador to Tanzania and the East African Community.
