A discussion on data protection compliance in Kenya

The Privacy Symposium Africa (PSA) is a Pan-African Privacy and Data Protection platform established in 2019 by Unwanted Witness to attract, present, and discuss original research results and the latest technological developments related to personal data protection and privacy.

This year's PSA is co-organised by Unwanted Witness and the Centre for Intellectual Property and Information Technology Law (CIPIT) of Strathmore University, and will take place from 2-4 November 2022 in a hybrid format (online and in Nairobi, Kenya).

In the framework of the event, the AU-EU Digital for Development (D4D) Hub will host a panel session on how Kenyan SMEs can effectively achieve data protection compliance. Addressed to data processors and controllers in Kenya wishing to better understand the newly enacted Data Protection Act (which is inspired by the EU General Data Protection Regulation), the session's objective is to foster an open exchange on good practices and lessons learned from Africa and Europe.

This activity is coordinated by the GIZ Digital Transformation Centre in Kenya.
